Marimekko Piirto Unikko Rug In Natural White
Hand Tufted
100% Wool
Thickness: 1.2cm
The Unikko rug is decorated with Maija Isola's iconic Marimekko pattern. Unikko came about in 1964 after Armi Ratia, the founder of Marimekko, announced that no floral fabrics would be designed at Marimekko. Maija Isola, however, was not having it and in protest, she designed an entire collection of bold floral patterns – nowadays Unikko is one of Marimekko's most beloved patterns and recognized around the world.
Created in collaboration with esteemed Dutch rugmaker Brink & Campman, this Marimekko rug is hand-tufted from New Zealand wool with a calm, earthy greige colour palette. Whether placed in the bedroom or living room, the Unikko rug promises to infuse your home with warmth and an intriguing visual interest: it's like a poppy field right in the middle of your home!
A note on wool:
Wool rugs are prized for their ability to retain their colour and pile height, as well their durability. Please note that all wool rugs have a tendency to shed, and this will gradually subside after a few weeks.
